Christine and I travelled up to her Batch today for a few days of adventuring. ‘Batch’ is a New Zealand word for a place in the country. They might be very simple huts or palatial mansions.
Our route lay up the valley from Blenheim. The hills are now very brown contrasting with the green vines.
Once arrived we went for a walk through the magical New Zealand forest
We spent the walk spotting stumps
We are staying near the shore of Lake Roitoiti
Under this jetty there live eels. Peering down from the sides you see
That’s a solid dark mass of them.
It is good to be back here after a 10 month gap.
