May 10 325m ascent

Another sunny day. What a gift. This Cape Wrath Trail has lots of route choices. Today we elected the moorland route rather than road walking. We followed deer tracks in places but often there was no track at all. The ground is very dry and the streams are low which is good news for us. Crossing streams is easy and we do not sink into the bog very far.

This is the lonely land we crossed

We crossed a ridge and the sea came into sight.

Sitting outside this bothy in the sunshine, drinking tea, the world seemed a good place.

It took us longer than expected to reach the beach – Sandwood Bay. It is a very special place.

We pitched the tent so we could look out to sea through the open tent flap.

We watched a glorious sunny sunset.
