We had an excellent meal last night
That finished with a beautiful Creme brûlée. The best we have had.
After a good meal I completely forgot to write about the days activities!
I had been meaning to write about our trip along the Dordogne in a gabarre – a traditional boat of the river. Though happily this one was not completely traditional and had a diesel engine.
There is nothing quite like a river journey on a hot, hot sunny day.
This is one of the 164 “Les Plus Beau Villages de France”
There were lots of canoes drifting down the current
Our guide said that in the height of the summer season up to three thousand canoes go under this bridge
There seem to be chateaux everywhere
Resting on the boat were many of these
Dragonflies or damselflies?
In the car park the trees were beautiful
On a hot, hot day it was good to return to our front door and the coolness of our apartment.

Now that is some “pudding”.

We are in undertaking a survey of the Creme Brulee desserts of the different restaurants in this town. It’s a hard job but someone has to do it.

Hi Rog,
I’ve just read through the last few days as we’ve been away ourselves for a mini break.
Lovely photos as usual. This time I can say I’ve been to some of the places – Lascoux (stunning), Sarlat (camping holiday years ago). That’s news to me re Cromangon man being taller etc. Though I’ve always imagined that they were cultured and clever as it’s obvs from their artifacts.
The fella on the wall is thinking, “I got up ok but how do I . . . ”
It’s a treat travelling with you – I can even taste the cheese!

Thank you Stuart. The paintings and the history are so fascinating.
What why when how who – the questions are endless.
